What is Optical Emission Spectrometer?

Optical Emission Spectrometer is a fast quantitative analysis instrument for analyzing ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals. This instrument is widely used in metallurgy, machinery and other industrial sectors. It is one of the effective solutions to control product quality for online analysis before the smelting furnace and product inspection in the central laboratory.

How Optical Emission Spectrometer works?

The spark optical emission spectrometer uses the high temperature of the arc (or spark) to directly vaporize each element in the sample from the solid state and is excited to emit the characteristic wavelength of each element. After the light is split by a grating, it becomes a "spectrum" arranged by wavelength. The characteristic spectral lines of the optical signals pass through the exit slits and are injected into their respective photomultiplier tubes. The optical signals become electrical signals. The electrical signals are integrated by the control and measurement system of the instrument and the digital conversion is performed, and then processed by the computer and printed out the percentage of elements.

Detection speed The equipment is ready to use and easy to operate. The alloy grade and element content can be obtained in 1 second. The equipment needs a long time to warm up, the alloy grade can be displayed after 1~3 seconds, and the element content can be displayed after 15~30 seconds.
Use and maintenance costs There are no vulnerable parts, the service life of core components exceeds one million tests, and the maintenance cost in normal use is extremely low. X-ray tubes and fluorescence detectors are both consumable and vulnerable parts, which are expensive to replace.
Analyzable elements Covering almost all metal elements, it can be used for grade and composition identification of various heavy and light alloys. Mainly for the identification of heavy metal elements, not as good as stainless steel and alloy steel, but cannot test alloys such as aluminum alloy.
