Recently, after spark the steel sample by the Innovate T5 spark photoelectric optical emission spectrometer, there is always a black circle at the excitation point. What causes it?

1. The purity of argon is insufficient. The spark photoelectric direct reading spectrometer needs to be equipped with 99.999% high-purity argon. If the purity is not up to the requirement, this phenomenon may occur.

2. Blockage of the argon spark stand outlet pipe may cause this phenomenon, especially the pipe that discharges the exhaust gas. At the same time, the spark stand needs to be cleaned regularly.

3. The normal excitation point should be: the middle is silver-white metallic luster, there are small bumps left after the metal evaporates, and there is a circle of black ash left after burning. It is not too big. Or things can be wiped off. If the argon purity is not good or the sample structure is not good, usually the evaporation spot left by the evaporation of the intermediate metal is smaller than normal, the black circle after burning is smaller than normal, and the blackness is lower. Usually the blackness and size of the black circle are related to the material. Generally, the black circle of medium and low alloy steel with high carbon content is relatively dark. However, the cast iron material does not necessarily have dark circles or even no black circles. If the color of the black circle is darker and enlarged, it may spread out because the sample is not flat or the sample leaks on the half side. Also, if the excitation conditions change, the color of the dots after excitation may be abnormal. The blackness may be larger when the excitation energy is large.

4. There may be carbon deposits. The main cause is air leakage. Spark table wear and uneven sample may cause air leakage. Also, when you change the electrode, the distance between the electrode and the sample is not appropriate, mainly because the electrode is too close, which will cause carbon deposition.
